On 7 December 2021, Australia deposited its instrument of ratification successfully, becoming as a result the 136th Party to the Minamata Convention on Mercury. The Secretariat looks forward to having Australia as a Party effective (90 days after the ratification, as stipulated by the text of the Convention) and working together to make mercury history.

On 7 December, the Minamata Convention secretariat participates in this hybrid briefing organized which reviews the outcomes of work and key activities of 2022 and presents the priorities for 2023.
