Switzerland, Mali and Botswana become future Parties to the Minamata Convention

On 25 May 2016, the Government of Switzerland deposited its instrument of ratification to the Minamata Convention at a ratification ceremony in New York. Shortly thereafter, on 27 May and 3 June respectively, the Government of Mali and the Government of Botswana deposited their instruments of ratification to the Minamata Convention, bringing the number of future Parties to the Convention to 28.

The interim secretariat has published a set of fact sheets providing an overview of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, of its key control measures as well as of the process for becoming a Party. Released in English and French, Spanish version will be made available shortly. Read more
